Great story! Your Draco is very, very in-character: "It was so unfair!" And of course: Draco being so occupied by tricking Neville that he only realized much later that he was in fact doing something stupid.
I don't think Draco Malfoy is stupid, he's just viewing the world in a very strange way. Your story is showing that excellently.
