| Julie, thanks for the review! I was beginning to think no one was ever going to read this story. There are not a lot of Hagrid stories, but I think he's one of the most interesting characters, and the more you find out about his background, the more fascinating he becomes. Thanks! |

Very interesting story! I like the friendship between Hagrid and Firenze. Their uneasiness about the future fits in well with the situation at the end of GoF, and with what we know will happen in the future.
I think you've caught Hagrid's personality well. "Hogwarts was home, but he never truly felt comfortable indoors. It was tiring, constantly ducking through low doorways, always standing, since there was rarely a chair that would support his weight. His hut was a retreat, but the Forest was welcoming; beside its ancient trees he was not awkwardly oversized." That's something I'd never thought of, but it must be true for him.
"He was not learned, like Dumbledore, and had none of the elderly wizard’s subtlety. But his instinctive understanding of the natural world, his empathy with all living creatures, had earned Firenze’s respect. " Another good insight about Hagrid.
You've also captured Firenze well. Great job! |
