Wow, what a long Author's Note! Very informative, though. I can't tell you how much I like this story. I think it stays close to what JKR intended. I like the way you portray Neville. I feel as though Neville may be the most realistic of the Harry Potter characters and you made him seem so real. Great job, I am awaiting the next fic.

I just got caught up on the last few chapters. Very nice job! I like how you have Dumbledore's picture communicate with him. I also like how you have Neville talk thru Trevor to Rinkle -- we don't know all of the powers that house elves have, so it makes sense that they can understand animals.
The way you started this chpt was very good. I can see Neville apologizing long after the fact simply because it is the right thing to do. Also, McGonnegall's reaction is very believable. |

Great chapter! I love that Neville was able to get himself rescued from the Body Bind, notify Dumbledore, and then help rescue the Trio! Using his book to talk to the Headmaster was a great touch.
I want you to know that I like this story a lot. You've developed Neville's character very well; I like his connection with Trevor, too - JKR doesn't tell us much about 'familiars'.
In this chapter, though, I have one little issue - I think the "self-playing harp" is from the movie. In the book, don't they have to play the flute Harry got from Hagrid? (I don't have my books here, so I could be wrong). Maybe you're already aware of this, and went with the movie version.
I'm looking forward to seeing Neville and Hermione in Dumbledore's office. Keep up the good work! |

| I'm just a casual visitor to this site, but I read all 13 chapters and I thought your story was great. You really captured the feeling of struggling with emotional burdens as a child and trying to also keep on top of all the things your supposed to be doing . Neville is a very loveable character who is easy to relate to, and th introduction of a bit of phsychology through the St mungos staff and Neville's dreams gave the story a definite edge. | Second time I've bben to this site, and this story instantly caught my eye. I spent almost an hour reading it all, and I think it's fantastic! I love how you've captured Neville, and made him your own, yet kept him in character. I have a feeling that in the last books of the series, JK Rowling has great things in store for Neville, but until they come out I'm glad to see someone giving him the attention he deserves. I noticed just a couple of very minor typos, but they didn't distract me from the story. Aunt Enid, now there a character we don't know, and your veiw of her is wonderful she is a great balance of love and warmth and knowlege and she contrast gran beautifully. I like the way she explained Crabbe and Goyle's behavior and I may shamefully steal it when its time to explain bulling behavior to my own daughter :)

Another great chapter! I love how you are incorporating all these little learning experiences for Neville, giving background to how he became our Neville as he is today. The idea of the book and letters from his father is great, and I like Frank's view on breaking rules. The broom incident also gives background to why Neville is so nervous about flying in book one! Poor Neville, too, with his family saying that he is mainly squib right in front of him! I think you have captured Gran perfectly, too, demanding and dominating enough, but with a kind, caring side, too. Great work, I look foward to reading more of this fantastic fic! I have been following this fic for a while, but have been too lazy to review, so now I will make an attempt at it! I really like your ability to link the canon facts of Neville's life (such as the threstrals - seeing his gramps die, the blackpool pier, his memory etc.) and form a detailed plot and fic. Moody and Gran are in character from what we know of them, although I think that Neville seems a little too old for a five year old towards the end of the 3rd chapter. The first two chapters were great in that we saw a glimpse of Alice and Frank's lives (and Neville's) before THAT incident, and I like how you have strung them all together - especially Sirius gaurding the Potter's bodies, and Frank being one of the first to the crime scene. Grandpa's speechs on his deathbed were very well written, and although I have to be truthful and say I didn't get teary, they were quite sad and sentimental. The Healer's speech, though, I thought was really good -
Tom’s heart went out to the child, and he knelt down beside him. “First of all, there’s nothing bad about being a Squib. If you are a Squib, it means you have different gifts than most wizards. And you may have to work harder for your goals, but they are no less important. But I wouldn’t worry too much. I don’t think you’re a Squib.”
I really love that passage, about Neville's natural curiosity, and how he became the character that we love today.

Okay, better now. I'm really interested to see where you're taking the Algie character. He seems so evil in this chapter! But in the fifth book he gives Neville the mimbulus mimbletonia. I think perhaps there is a plot afoot!
