Hi! I found this series today after doing a search for fics that include Snape... I must say that I am very pleased.
Loved the contrast of seeing this conversation played from both sides. Your use of the canon characterisations, along with your choice of having Harry and Snape NOT fall back on "their usual pattern" of communication was original, compelling, and very believable as well. I also enjoy your use of chess strategy for the analogies - they create visual images that are easy to see and hard to argue with. :)

I'm looking forward to future installments of the series. Happy writing!

Wow. I like this version even more than the one from Harry's point of view.

For a long moment, Potter just stared back blankly. Then his face crumpled, and he swayed in his chair. "Was that what... oh God..."

Too late, Severus realized what damage he had done. He's not just upset about losing Black. He feels responsible for all of it. Even after what Albus told him -- even after what I told him -- he still feels responsible. And he thinks I've just confirmed it. Albus won't hand me over to the Dark Lord; he'll kill me himself.

I actually teared up here. And it surprised me, but then I realized that actually seeing a very canon Snape realize a mistake and possibly even have a sense of pity towards Harry just touched me emotionally.

Excellent work, you're a pretty good writer.

I've just finished reading all of these pieces; I think they're entertaining and insightful and frighteningly realistic. I'm glad you showed us both sides of this conversation, and I could see this or something similar taking place in HBP. You're right, there will be sacrifices, and JKR has said Harry has to get his emotions under control in order to face what's ahead. Here's a good start.
>>Albus won't hand me over to the Dark Lord; he'll kill me himself.<< This is a great line, as well as the thoughts surrounding it. You've got an intriguing and intelligent story going here - I'll be looking forward to more.

What kind of self deluded masocist are you? You think that taking Quiddich away from Harry is an olive branch? Get real!

This is brilliantly well written but just the like the other POV version I really don't like your conclusion. This is a personal thing so don't even consider taking it to heart but how on earth can you take Quidditch away from Harry? Hasn't he lost enough already??

Anyway, like I said. Good language, superb insights into the characters and it was entirely believable. All too believable. *goes away to find a corner to cry in*
