Amazing. I loved this. Absolutely brilliant. I have nothing coherent to say except that this is completely in line with my interpretation of those events from Dumbledore's point of view, perfectly expressed in wonderful, intricate detail. Beautifully written. Thank you.

I'm impressed, Dumbledore's last moments are so desperate and touching and Snape is very decisive (and on the right side!!) Dumbledore seems like a hard character to write, but you've done a wonderful job with a tricky scene.

I love this! This scene in canon unsettled me, as it did many others. Why would Dumbledore plead- For his life? Did he intend for Severus to kill him? Is Snape bad? You have written a convincing and coherent peek at Dumbledore's thoughts, and answered the questions in a satisfying way. Thank you! I feel better now.

Oh, my goodness. That was wonderful - very powerful, and beautifully written. Breathtakingly sad, and yet hopeful as well. Thank you for a lovely fic. :)

This makes me feel so awful reading it, so sad and frustrated. Possibly one of the best Dumbledore stories I've ever read, perhaps because even with the darkness eating away at him, Dumbledore is still Dumbledore.

Favourite Lines:

"The darkness was rising again, a ravening demon held in leash within, but it was almost welcome beneath the haste that drove him now." - but it can't be held forever...

"Tendrils of pain within him blossomed, clutching for his heart." - you describe it so well

"The Dark taint washed within him like a shattered flask, and he battened it down, feeling the reassuring bite of the rough stonework at his back." - I love the way you describe Hogwarts the building as supporting Dumbledore after he's done his best to protect and preserve it

"Voldemort's finest, as ever, more befuddled by courtesy than by a slap to the face" - ha, so true

"Harry's broom lay mutely in the corner. Snape's eyes did not for a single instant flicker to it again, but a spasm of revulsion and fury crossed his face." - best explanation I've seen for that spasm; and the fact Snape might know he's saving Harry as well as Draco...

Your writing is excellent, as usual.

I like your dramatization of Albus Dumbledore's last few moments. I have envisioned it similarly, and thank you for doing such a lovely job.

It made me cry. Beautiful.

Brilliant. Just brilliant. If there is anyone who can write Dumbledore perfectly, it's you. I don't think anyone can beat you to this. It's unbelievably well written. You even make it sort of plausible that Snape killed Dumbledore while really being on his side, although I'm not entirely convinced yet. But that aside, this story is breath-taking. I have hardly ever read any better stories.

Absolutely stunning, no matter what interpretation of "Severus... please..." you take. Dumbledore is perfect.
Thank you for sharing your gift.

Is there a way to send a hug over the internet? I'd do it in this instance, this was a beautiful peice. Dumbledore is wonderfuly portrayed, this is the Dumbledore that exsists in the books. Wise and strong, smart enough to not be afraid of death and beautifuly human and compassionate. The Dark magic elements in this story are superb and sinister. You write so beautifuly its hard for me not to just burst with jealousy right on the spot, but for now I shall cease my slavering fangirlishness and start saving this to my hard drive for those dark evenings!

very intriguing twist to the book i read it to be that dumbledore was begging for his life because he knew about snape's unbreakable vow and was aware that this was the culmination of it. you've also brought to light the fact that dumbledore never shows weakness, so he must have been in inhuman pain if he was too weak to move. this fic does a good job of realizing that pain.
all in all, good work!

Well done. My favorite part was " trusting in the untried heart beneath the bravado".

OhmyGOD. Hon, that was amazing. Best post-HBP piece I've read yet.

I don't recall the effects of the potion being at all specified; in fact, I believe that most readers assumed the potion would have killed Albus eventually anyway; if that's indeed the case: props to you! I love your concept and the way you manipulated your wording to skirt the topic at hand, rather than stating it bluntly. You have a real knack for writing.

The last image of Severus and Dumbledore's interaction was particularly striking. It was kept simple, but it really aids the reader in coming to a better understanding of what (we think) Jo meant by the word "please." And that final word ... incredible way to wrap up an icredible one-shot. A job well done.
