This is very revealing of your main characters. And the ice cream suited them well.

I had wanted to comment on this when it was still in the "Latest" list. Alas...
I like the imagery you opened your first paragraph with. It also served to tell the reader what time of year it was.
Minerva was well characterized: no-nonsense, determined, capable. And I bet she wouldn't see the amusing side of the A.M.R.S. She never sees it with Neville.
A heartwarming tale.

At about the middle point of the story, it began to feel sligtly bittersweet due to the fact that I remembered Amelia Bones' fate in the HP-canon. However, 'twas fantastic-- I loved seeing Minerva doing "normal" things with her friends. We don't usually get to see the 'social' side of her...

I liked this. Sweet, short, and wonderful. I never considered that Amelia and Minerva might have been friends. I suppose they're around the same age...

Thanks for the great read!

You know I love this piece. You're description of the ice creams is just so wonderful and sensual, and I love how the choice of flavours and the eating habits of both women reflect their personalities. The ending actually made me tear up, this time.

<She was really laughing now, the full, deep laugh that always Minerva think of chicken broth, and her mother telling her the thunderstorm would be over soon>

<They looked at each other, and for a moment, they felt it: this is the closest I will ever come to a love of my life. >

Such rich beautiful description - it says so much about the quality of their friendship over the years, the very *deep* affection they feel for each other. And the parting, though not final, is still the ending of an age. It made me think of all the friends I'll be leaving behind when I go to uni *sniffs*

There were a couple of missed full stops, I seemed to notice, and you have a grammar error here:

< I have seen never him>

Shouldn't that be I have never seen him?... But other than this fic is pretty much perfect - a wonderful evocation of these two women's personalities and choices in life.

*runs off to the nearest ice cream shop*

Such a great idea to put these two characters together and give us a little glimpse of them as young adults. You handle point of view really well here. I love the way we seem to be looking down on them from a great height - observing their companionable silence and adding to the haunting, melancholy atmosphere of their goodbye. If that makes sense ...

The intense colours of Diagon Alley and the pungent ice cream flavours are gorgeous - you always do the sensual description well :)
*looks round for ice cream*

Great to see this up here!

Oh, you've certainly made me long for ice-cream! This wasn't what I'd expected from the title (I thought it had to do with Fortescue's disappearance in HBP, actually), but it turned out to be much better! It's sad, though, the way Minerva and Amelia must split up ... that's the way it happens in real life, after all. I also liked how you dealt with Minerva/Dumbledore by showing how it was Dumbledore's ideals she loved, rather than the man himself. (I never did think much of a love affair between the two. He's really so much older!)
Well done!

Awesome job. Your writing flows well and you make the characters come to life. I thoroughly enjoyed how your wrote Prof. McG. It is wonderful to see her in a different light besides a teacher. Good job!

Its great, Songbird, thanks. I like how the to of them understand each other so well, and also how the story ended. It feels very real.
I've eating chocolate and totamto soup, so the icecream craving almost passed me by! almost...

Very good! I really like Amelia and Minerva.

Though when I think of HBP... I cringe. Amelia dies, then Fortescue goes missing - that must have been a horrible coincidence!

*teary eyes* Aww...that's so beautiful!

LOL. That was one of the most touching stories I have ever read.
