I have read this piece over and over again. I keep coming back to it. Remus is my favourite HP character and love to read Remus-centered fics. Naturally, I enjoy them, but have some issues with the way he is usually portrayed. Meaning, the author centralizes on a specific characteristic - shy, controlled or "the Wolf" - and that's pretty much all he is. I love the way you have written's how I see him. Outwardly, he is reserved - with reason - but you show him to be passionate, fun and with faults like anyone else. Yes, he may be the "voice of reason" at times, but he was a Marauder, after all. I believe he wanted to cause as much mischeif as Sirius or James, he just felt guiltier in doing so, having more empathy towards his fellow man/woman. And in regards to Tonks.... It honestly grieved me that Ms. Rowling paired her with Remus - my, Jealousy is an ugly thing. :D
But, you... you made me like her. You have made it possible to understand what he would see in her. I thank you for that. Anywho, sorry for blathering on. I took a paragraph to basically say that your characters are well-rounded and thorough and that I enjoy your writing very much. Can't wait for more... but I will. :)

This is just wonderful! Your characterizations are spot on all the way through, and you do a lovely narrative in Remus' voice. This was very well-crafted and a pleasure to read!

A nice start. Is this a chaptered fic, then? A corker of a last line, given what happens.

“How did you know?” Sirius asked suspiciously as I walked into the kitchen at Grimmauld Place.

“One of the signs of a true werewolf,” I replied, sitting down at the kitchen table. “The ability to smell freshly brewed tea. Milk, no sugar, please.”

Hee hee! My favorite exchange. Liked the way the Mauraders pulled off the potions duel. That was a neat idea; Slughorn would do something like that!

I was just intending to skim through this on a whim ... but you caught me. Well done! You've really gone in depth into Remus's character to come out with such an insightful chapter. I love the prank they played on Snape - funny and not the usual run-of-the-mill brainless kind of thing. Sirius's last line - 'I wonder who'll be the first to go this time.' really got me. It sent shivers up my spine, knowing what the outcome is.

This is a great start. Keep up the good work!

Very good. And I liked the bitter irony at the end.
