Great alternative POV here. Hermione's thoughts and feelings ring very true and I feel nostalgic for this little girl who always did what was right, no matter what. I feel she's lost that as she's got older.

| Excellent story. You had me sympathetic and proud of Hermione at turns. I especially liked the vivid first paragraph describing her grief and then the self-conscious attempt to pin herself together. You follow with such a poignant explanation for it all: "It was no surprise she never really fit in before, she thought, if she was a witch and all her schoolmates were Muggles. And she'd been terribly disappointed when Hogwarts turned out to be exactly the same." Oh, the woes of a brainy girl. : ( The ending complimented it all *perfectly* and warmed my heart. |

| I liked your stories when I was reading The Drabble Thread and was very glad to see you here. I think my favorite part was when Hermione started trying to recite Fantastic Beasts to herself. Very in-character for her at that point in the books. Yay for you! |

Congratulations on your win, Shimotsuki! This is a wonderful alternative point of view story. I love how realistically you depict Hermione's dissappointment and humiliation. I really like how you have her hoping that Hogwarts would be different from her Muggle schools.
And it is such a perfectly Hermione thing to finally find her Gryffindor courage when faced with the injustice of Harry and Ron being punished for saving her. Lovely, lovely story. |
