Thank you for writing this. Dobby's death shook me probably the most, and I'd like to think that it affected all the characters in almost the same way. Even if he had lived like a king for half of his life, that elf never did get all the recognition he deserved.

I have a love/hate relationship with fill-the-gap fics. When they're written correctly they can be the very best type of fanfiction but get them wrong and they end up being bland and monotonous.
This one fell into the first category. It was neat, linked in with canon nicely and had pace. I especially liked the part with all the 'what ifs' as it really emphasised how incredibly lucky they were to escape alive.

The only part I didn't like was this sentence: It must have been Bellatrix with that awful knife of hers. It stuck out to me as odd and didn't seem to fit with the style of the rest of the fic. I think it's partly owing to the expression 'of hers' which seems too informal and more like it belongs in dialogue than narrative. I'd also question your use of 'awful' in describing the knife. It seems like a strange way to describe an inanimate object, unless the object was unusual in some way and Bellatrix's knife did not seem to be. Nitpicky I know but it's just something that struck me on reading the fic through.

All in all a very good read, well done!

Nice. I liked seeing this in Ron's POV.

This is a very good missing moment. It bring all the emotions of reading the chapter back and provides some interactions that must have taken place.
