"Empty Spaces in the Photo"

"Empty Spaces in the Photo"
(Remus seated at an empty table, gazing at the old photo of the Order)

There's a grief that can't be spoken
There's a pain goes on and on
Empty spaces in the photo
Now my friends are dead and gone

We used to talk of revolution
Back at school we lit a flame
There we sang about tomorrow
And tomorrow never came.

From our desks in the corner
We could see a world reborn -
And we rose with voices ringing
I can hear them now!

The very words that we had sung
Became their last communion
In a lonely cottage, a Ministry room
At dawn.

Lily, Sirius, James, forgive me,
That I live and you are gone!
There's a grief that can't be spoken,
There's a pain goes on and on.

Phantom faces at the window!
Phantom shadows on the floor!
Empty spaces in the photo
I will see my friends no more.

Oh my friends, my friends, don't ask me
What your sacrifice was for!
Empty spaces in the photo,
I will see my friends no more...

(He lays the photo face down on the table.)
